Make your business easier to choose, and easier to run.

Plainlight Studio builds and improves websites for local businesses, with practical automation to make everyday work easier.

You work directly with the founder. Plain language, a clear plan and price up front, and a straightforward handoff.

What we do

Most projects start with your website. When it would genuinely save you time, we can also automate the busywork behind it.

Website refresh

Your site works, but it looks dated, is hard to use on a phone, or doesn't make it obvious how to reach you. We keep what's working and improve what isn't, whether that's the layout, mobile experience, loading speed, accessibility, or how easily customers can get in touch.

New website

No website yet, or one that's not worth saving? We plan it with you, help write it in plain language, then design, build and launch it. The result is a clear site that explains what you do, who you serve, and how to get in touch.

Practical automation

If you spend hours on copy-and-paste admin, we can help. For example: new inquiries acknowledged and organized automatically, follow-up reminders, or form entries sent straight to a spreadsheet. We use tools you already have where possible, start with one small task, and keep a person in control.

Why work with a small studio

  • Work directly with the person doing the work

From your first message to launch, you deal with the same person, so nothing gets lost along the way.

  • Plain language

No jargon. You'll always know what's happening and why.

  • A clear plan and price first

You get a written scope and price before any work starts.

  • Clear terms, simple handoff

Your written plan spells out who owns what before we begin. At the end, you get your website files, access to the accounts set up for your project, and simple notes on how to keep things running.

Concept project · Fictional business

Behind the concept

Hollis & Pine Landscaping, the example at the top of this page, isn't a real company. We designed its homepage to show how we'd approach a local service business. A few of the decisions behind it:

  • The phone number and "Request a free quote" button sit at the top of the page, including on phones.
  • Services and the service area appear near the top, so visitors don't have to dig through menus.
  • Readable type sizes and strong color contrast, chosen with accessibility guidelines in mind.

Name and details are invented for this example. Any resemblance to a real business is unintended.

Hi, I'm Wes.

I started Plainlight Studio to help local businesses build websites they're proud of and make everyday work a little easier. I design new websites, improve existing ones, and create practical digital solutions that help businesses work more efficiently.

Plainlight Studio is a small, independent studio. When you work with me, you get a personal, straightforward approach from the first conversation to the finished project.

How it works

  1. Conversation

Tell us what's not working. In a free, no-pressure chat by email or call, we look at your current site or workflow together and ask a few questions.

  2. Plan and price

You get a short written plan: what we'll do, the timeline, and the price.

  3. Build

We design and build, with check-ins so there are no surprises.

  4. Launch and handoff

You review and approve, we launch, and you get what you need to run it.

Automation projects usually start small, with one task, so you can see it working before doing more.

Let's make it simpler.

Tell me about your website or a task you'd like to simplify. I'll get back to you to discuss the next steps. No pressure or obligation.
